15 years ago we wanted to create a place where ‘all the good things’ come together: clothing, art, interior pieces and good coffee. A place where artists get a stage and where shopping feels fun and personal.

We know that ‘good things’ are rare and hard to find. But we love chasing. Pieces from bigger well-known brands as well as from exciting small brands and upcoming artists. And sometimes, if we are in the mood, we create a little collection of our own. The idea was never to be a big brand. With seasons to keep up with and big production calendars. We just love making things. 

It started back in 2012 when we rode around Bali on a motorbike, collecting old, heavy ikat blankets. We took them to a tiny local atelier and turned them into a small collection of jackets.

Then in 2018, we launched our COTTONCAKE fragrances. We’ve always been fascinated by scent. How it can take you straight back to a moment, a place, a person. How it can shift your mood in a second. So naturally, we wanted to create our own.

Turns out, we can get quite obsessive. A custom-made cast iron cap. Italian glass. And almost a year of smelling, testing, learning and tweaking together with Dutch scent designer Tanja Deurloo. Eventually, our COTTONCAKE fragrances were there. Five scents, each with a character of its own.

A few years later, in 2022, Tessa moved to Bali with her family. Surrounded by beautiful fabrics and local craftsmanship, two small linen and cotton summer collections followed naturally.

Back in Holland, after a few detours, we found a small atelier that works the way we like to work. Close, personal and in small quantities. It’s where we still make our own pieces today. A little drop whenever we feel like it.
